Has this world gone insane?

"ABC's Cokie Roberts denounced as “irresponsible” conservative opposition to the “stimulus” bill and suggested those who voted against it should be punished, declaring on Sunday's This Week: “I just think that when you're in a situation like this, to do nothing is so irresponsible that you can't, you can't get away with it.”

Really? What kind of name is Cokie? Perhaps it's a clue.
Ok, wait a minute. Our House and Senate are there to VOTE. That means they make decisions both based on their opinions, research, and findings, as well as the public opinion for which they stand for. You know, appointed BY the people, FOR the people? Have you not heard? A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE THE BILL!
By this one statement alone, she is insinuating punuishment is due for not going "along" with the vote? I guess you didn't "give" enough to buy off any more of the repubicans. Even Obama said, "Everyone will have to give a little.." or does this only apply to everyone NOT a democrat?
PUNISHMENT?! Are you out of your mind or just high on the koolaid? "In a situation like this.."?! The bulk of the money in the porkulus bill won't even hit the deck until 2010 when the re-election campaigners need their funding (payoff)! Most people won't even be affected by it, except when their taxes go up to cover the loss of 1 billion tax dollars plus per year caused by capping the salaries on the CEO's!
I don't know which one of us has lost our minds at this point, but I seriously do suspect it is Cokie Roberts.
If anyone needs to be punished, it's those in the government that think they have the right to enslave the American public. Chew on that Cokie.
